Liulichang, now better known as Liulichang Street, is a famous cultural street in Beijing. It has a history that can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty when it was a factory producing sintered glazed tiles. During the Qing Dynasty, Liulichang developed a strong cultural atmosphere as the literati would come here to rest before their examinations held in Beijing. It was also the home of several book and stationery stores.

A large number of time-honored brands, up to as many as over 100, were once gathered at Liulichang Street, including Huaiyin Shanfang (槐荫山房), Lifushou Writing Brush (李福寿笔庄), Cathay Bookshop (中国书店), Yidege (一得阁), and Rongbaozhai (荣宝斋), and many famous literati, including Yu Youren, Zhang Daqian, and Qi Baishi, frequently visited the area. Most foreigners traveling to Beijing also pay Liulichang a visit.

In recent years, Liulichang Culture Industrial Park has introduced the concept of creative cultural industry, developing Liulichanginto the core area of the creative cultural industrial park.
