On July 9, at the International Union of Architects (UIA) General Assembly in Copenhagen, current UIA President José Luis Cortés announced that Beijing will be the host city for the 2029 (the 30th) UIA World Congress of Architects.

The UIA World Congress of Architects is a triennial event jointly organized by the UIA and UNESCO. The event designates the title "World Capital of Architecture" to the host city for the year of the World Congress of Architects.

Beijing successfully hosted the 20th World Congress of Architects in 1999 and will host the conference again, 30 years later.
