Although on-site service of public cultural facilities has been suspended due to the pandemic, their cultural resources can still be accessed online. Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism has coordinated public cultural facilities citywide to guide cultural enterprises to jointly open 7,077 digital cultural resource databases to the public.
Holders of the City Library Card of Beijing Public Library Information Sharing Network can now log in to municipal- and district-level digital libraries and access 6,915,000 e-books, 1,500 periodicals, more than 300 newspapers, and 14,603,000 academic papers online.
The Capital Library of China has opened 31 databases to readers online. Beijing Dongcheng District Library has opened papers collected in its Library of Clothing and other thematic online libraries. XiCheng Library of Beijing has launched WeChat library services and a children's digital library. Mentougou District Library has opened a full-text database of Chinese newspapers, Chinese comic strip digital resources, and an audio library. Tongzhou District Library has opened a Video Library and an African Wildlife Database.
Beijing Culture Center has launched its digital platform. No.1 Culture Center of Dongcheng District offers to the public specialized courses such as "Art+1" online courses and "Let's Draw Traditional Chinese Paintings". No.1 Culture Center of Xicheng District is providing cloud-based classes, concerts, movies and performances. The North Section of the Beijing Haidian Culture Center has launched the "Youth Time Capsule" photography exhibition and webcast of literary and artistic training. The Culture E-Space of Shijingshan District Cultural Center is offering online cultural and artistic performances, traditional opera performances, and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions to the public. Mentougou District Culture Center has launched online cultural and artistic training and appreciation programs and cloud-based intangible cultural heritage exhibitions. Fangshan Cultural Activity Center provides online courses for Latin dance, psychology, cosmetics, and traditional incense making, among other topics. Changping Culture Center now offers online resources covering various themes including music, fine arts, and dance, as well as courses on health promotion, fitness, and knowhow courses.
Cultural enterprises such as COL Group, Chaoxing Books, and Zhongyi Guangwu Alliance have made some of their digital resources free during the pandemic. In cooperation with Beijing Dongcheng District Library, Fengtai District Library, and the Library of Shijingshan District, COL Group has made 100,000 e-books, 30,000 audio books, and over 500 periodicals available online. From May 18 to June 15, readers can access COL's free digital resources after logging in to the "Shuxiang China" Digital Reading Platform (http://www.chineseall.cn/). The Chaoxing Books applet on WeChat provides 38,000 e-books, 3,500 popular periodicals, 10,000 quality videos, 1,000 sets of picture books, 400 cultural MOOCs, and other online resources to the public. The WeChat account "Guangwuquan" and the video channel "Huayangjiejie + Guangwuquan" are sharing over 360,000 square dance videos with a total length of more than 30,000 hours on their platforms.
