Symposium on User Experience and Improvement for the Official Web Portal of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality

On May 13, the Symposium on User Experience and Improvement for the Official Web Portal of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality (english.beijing.gov.cn) was held online. The virtual session was attended by a group of Beijing-based expats, senior executives, and foreign students coming from the US, Sweden, Peru, Nepal, Japan, Burundi, etc.

In October, 2020, Beijing Municipality launched its official web portal with eight languages available, namely English, Korean, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Russian, and Arabic. Committed to building Beijing into an international exchange center, the website has become a platform providing such services as information release, public resources and communication to foreigners who want to know the city's development whether living in Beijing or not, and foreign investors, with its core assets showcased into six columns, Investing in Beijing, Working in Beijing, Studying in Beijing, Living in Beijing, Travelling in Beijing, Consuming in Beijing. Plus, the website features more than 300 service guides, access to online appointments for 50+ service items, and multilingual communication. To date, the website has received over  55 million visits, many by foreign netizens in Beijing.

During the meeting, participants spoke highly of the official web portal of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, especially its multi-language function, comprehensive service information and prompt release of policies in Beijing, which have greatly contributed to the investing, living and working environment for foreigners in Beijing. They also discussed and exchanged opinions on the page design, website promotion, content improvement, service enhancement and other aspects relating to the website development.

In the next step, the official WeChat account of the web portal will also be launched to provide more efficient, timely, precise and high-quality mobile internet services.
