Beijing Subway has recently enabled payment via QR code on Alipay. Citizens now can take the subway by simply scanning their QR code on the app. They can enjoy monthly ride discounts as well.

To activate the QR code on Alipay, citizens may first open the Alipay app, select the "Travel" icon on the homepage and enter the corresponding page to click the "Subway" icon. Frequent subway riders can also add the QR code icon to their mobile phone desktop as a shortcut.

Beijing has introduced QR code payment via Alipay for all public buses. Thus citizens in Beijing now can take both bus and subway using Alipay QR code.

Statistics from Alipay indicate that more than 200 cities in China have enabled this service, including Nanjing, Xi'an and Hangzhou.
