The 16th World Leisure Congress took place in Pinggu District, Beijing, from April 16 to 18.

With the theme of "Leisure Makes Life Better", the World Leisure Congress was held online and offline to mainly include: the opening and closing ceremonies, the award ceremony, one main forum, 14 parallel breakout sessions, the China (Beijing) International Leisure Industry Expo, and 9 featured leisure activities. With online live forum and a 3D display of the China (Beijing) International Leisure Industry Expo, the "Cloud-based Leisure Congress" was delivered as a channel to access the congress online for those audiences who cannot reach the scene. At that time, the "Virtual Leisure Congress" can be accessed via the links posted on the official website and WeChat account of the "Beijing Pinggu 2020 World Leisure Congress", with more audience sharing the intelligence of the conference remotely in real time.

During the Congress, Pinggu launched six spring flower tours for immersive experience of the tourists, i.e. visiting a sea of peach blossoms, crossing a peach blossom promenade, and enjoying the fun of a speedboat, sailboat and bungee jumping on the Jinhai Lake by which they can also experience a tranquil, pleasant and slow life.

The Congress is hosted by the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and organized by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and Pinggu District People's Government of Beijing Municipality. Founded by the World Leisure Congress in 1988, the World Leisure Congress has been held 15 times in cities around the world, such as Hangzhou (China), Sydney (Australia), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Sao Paulo (Brazil) and Durban (South Africa). Over three decades, the World Leisure Congress has developed into the world's most influential leisure academic event that pools the wisdom of global experts and scholars from all over the world.
