Tongzhou District of Beijing recently announced that the theme park of Universal Beijing Resort is expected to open this year in May.

So far, the resort has released a beta version of its mobile application, which offers information on rides and shows in its various theme lands. The beta app is intended to gather user feedback for future improvements to its features.

According to the map in the beta app, visitors may reach the Universal CityWalk, the main entrance of the theme park, from the parking lot or from the Universal Resort station of Line 7 or the Batong Line of the Beijing Subway.

The Universal CityWalk features a multi-purpose cinema, 15 restaurants featuring both Chinese and Western cuisine, and eight world-famous retail shops. The theme park also has seven theme lands including Hollywood, Minion Land, and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for visitors to explore.

Universal Beijing Resort has also launched mini programs on WeChat and Alipay. According to the user feedback it receives, Universal Beijing Resort is planning to add more features to its mobile app, including online ticketing, hotel reservations, VIP guide reservations, real-time queries on waiting times, and timetables for parades and shows.

Universal Beijing Resort's theme park and resort has been undergoing construction in stages. The first phase of construction included the  theme park, the Universal Studios Grand Hotel, the NUO Resort Hotel-Universal Beijing Resort, parking garages and lots, Universal CityWalk, staff accommodations, and water landscaping projects. Upon opening, the theme park and resort are expected to bring in more than 10 million visitors every year. The first phase of major construction on the theme park and resort facilities has been completed and preparations are now being made to enter full operation.
