The logo design for the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone (the "BFTZ") was published on January 6 at a dedicated news conference on international business services to update the construction progress of BFTZ and the national integrated demonstration zone for greater openness in the service sector.

The main concept of the logo design is based on a combination of Mobius strips and the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests in the Temple of Heaven. Visually, the profile of the logo mirrors an image of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, a widely known iconic spot of Beijing.

Symbolically, the two-sided Mobius strips allows external and internal smooth flow, implying China's new development paradigm with domestic circulation as the mainstay and domestic and international circulations reinforcing each other.

The three circles enclosed by Mobius strips represent the three specialized areas of BFTZ and the three colors symbolize three characteristic sectors of BFTZ, i.e. orange for passionate and open service industry, green for vibrant digital economy and blue for the blue ocean of science and technology innovation.

The three colors are organically connected and rising to the top of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, implying the development of the mutually coordinated, linked and integrated sectors.

BFTZ is planned to cover an area of 119.68 sq.km and include three sub-zones, 48.34 sq.km for International Business Service Area (including 5.466 sq.km for Beijing Tianzhu Comprehensive Bonded Zone), 39.49 sq.km for High-end Industry Area, and 31.85 sq.km for Science and Technology Innovation Area.
