Fancy a little escape from your mundane, humdrum existence and immersing yourself in something exciting and futuristic, then the ongoing Asia Digital Art Exhibition 2022 at the Beijing Times Art Museum should be one of your destinations.

Now in its third edition, the exhibit is curated by Qiu Zhijie, deptuty director of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and Chen Baoyang, a professor of CAFA's school of experimental art.

Spaceship Earth is this year's theme and it is inspired by the 2020 eponymous documentary which follows eight people who built the Biosphere 2, a giant replica of the earth's system 1991.

This theme, with a focus on the ecosystem on the Earth and the outer space, attracted nearly 1,000 entries by artists from 13 countries, including China, Italy, Greece, Australia, Germany and South Korea, according to the organizers.

40-plus works by more than 80 artists and artist groups made the cut.

Featuring technologies including augmented reality, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence, the showpieces invite visitors to immerse in them and interact with them.

For example, they can experience what it is like to live on the Mars, watch a fireworks show in the metaverse, and marvel at a huge elephant walking in the rainforest.

These works, combining the artists' concern of environmental issues and mankind's future with digital art, stretch the imagination of the viewers and also inspire them to gain a deeper understanding of a community with a shared future for mankind, said the curators.

The exhibit runs through Nov 13.
