On the evening of August 24, the 2nd "Beijing · A Global City" Short Video Contest, hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality and organized by CRI Online of China Media Group, was officially launched at the Cooling Tower of Big Air Shougang in Shougang Park.

The contest looks to collect outstanding short videos showcasing the features and achievements that have made Beijing a center for international exchanges from a wide variety of perspectives. It also seeks to present a true, dynamic, and comprehensive international image of Beijing with a focus on the services behind major diplomatic events, ongoing efforts to improve facilities, attempts to attract high-end international elements, and the pursuit of an optimized international service environment among others.
Expert judges given letters of appointment during the ceremony
This year's contest, intending to collect videos from targeted organizations and the public, is encouraging organizations with branches or offices in Beijing and residents or foreign nationals working or living in the capital to post around-two-minute videos with the hashtag #2022北京国际范儿# on the new media platform Kwai. Participants should also send their original short videos with a name and introduction to their work and their basic information to beijingvideos@cri.cn, the official email address of the contest organizing committee. The call for videos will continue until October 20, 2022, after which the expert judges organized by the host will select the first, second, and third prize winners and honorable mentions and present certificates and prizes.The winning videos will also be displayed on the official website of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, CRI Online of China Media Group, and various other new media platforms.

The ceremony officially launched the call for entries and unveiled the contest theme music. Contest judges also received their letters of appointment. At the invitation of the contest host and China Public Diplomacy Association, more than 30 foreign media reporters from over 20 countries including South Africa, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Indonesia, and Pakistan attended the launch ceremony and took part in the first interview and shoot themed "Landmarks of Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and Urban Renewal" before the launch ceremony. The contest host has planned a series of offline themed interviews and shoots to showcase the progress made in the establishment of Beijing as a center for international exchanges from a dynamic and diverse perspective.
