On the morning of October 23 2020, the 2020 (4th) Chinese Opera Culture Week was launched at the Beijing Garden Expo Park. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and jointly organized by the Art Department of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Beijing Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Fengtai District Committee of CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Fengtai District People's Government of Beijing Municipal.

From October 23 to 28, 36 professional academies and civil society groups in Beijing will deliver 180 performances at 13 performance spaces across the Beijing Garden Expo Park. The genres include Peking Opera, Kunqu Opera, Shaoxing Opera, Huangmei Opera, Pingju Opera, Henan Opera, Quju Opera, Hebei Clapper Opera, Qin Opera and other opera and folk art performances.

This year marks the centenary of the birth of Peking Opera master - Zhang Junqiu. On October 25, the National Peking Opera Company will present pericopes of two representative plays of Zhang Style (a style developed by Zhang Junqiu), "Wangjiang Pavilion" and "Silang Visits His Mother", at the Sunshine Theatre, Beijing Garden Expo Park.

The opera week will highlight the synergy between opera and gardens, as well as scenes and audience to deliver the charm of Peking Opera at close range through immersive performances. The Digital Exhibition of Traditional Chinese Operas will take place at Mengtang Garden in the Beijing Garden Expo Park, providing a unique experience to the audience through the interaction between traditional Chinese operas and digital technology.
