Fengtai District, one of the six urban districts of Beijing, is a central district of the capital and a major district which is endowed with the core functions of the capital. Located in the south of Beijing, Fengtai District covers a total area of 306 square kilometers.

Fengtai District now has 14 sub-district offices, 2 semi-urban area offices, 3 townships and 2 towns, with jurisdiction over 323 communities and 64 administrative villages. By the end of 2019, the permanent population of the whole district totaled 2.025 million.

Mobility is convenient in Fengtai District as it is home to important transportation hubs and nodes such as Beijing West Railway Station and Beijing South Railway Station. Fengtai Railway Station is currently under construction and Lize City Terminal is being planned. In September 2019, the Caoqiao Station of the Airport Express Line was completed; passengers can now directly check in and check baggage here and then arrive at Daxing International Airport within 20 minutes.

Beijing Garden Expo Park, located within Fengtai District, is the site hosting the 9th China (Beijing) International Garden Expo and a national 4A-level tourist attraction. It has turned a construction waste landfill of more than 20 hectares into a sunken flower valley where colorful flowers blossom, exemplary of the "making the ugly beautiful" ecological transformation and restoration.

Lize Financial Business District is the last large-scale development area within the Third Ring Road. According to the functional positioning specified in the latest Beijing Urban Master Plan, Lize Financial Business District is a clustering area of emerging financial industry and a pilot area for financial reform of the capital.
