Foreign citizens may apply directly to study at universities or other educational institutions if the candidate meets the following qualifications:
(1) 18 years of age or over;
(2) Having obtained an education level equal to or higher than a Chinese high school graduate;
(3) In good health;
(4) Valid passport and other valid international travel documents.
Foreign students planning to study for more than six months in China should apply for an X Visa at the Chinese embassy or consulate in their home country, complete the Application Form for Visas of Foreign Student Study in China (JW202) and hold an admission letter from the school.
As a temporary visitor, before studying in a Chinese University or other institution, a foreign student should process his or her visa and resident permit at the Entry-Exit Administration of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau with the JW202 Form and the admission letter from the school.
