In Beijing, the total number of stores offering departure tax refunds has reached 1,020. During the first quarter of 2023, the sales from departure tax refunds increased by a remarkable 8.9 times year on year in the city.

Since the first implementation of tax refund policies on July 1, 2015, for overseas tourists departing China, Beijing has taken the lead to successively i[]ntroduce a series of innovative services such as electronic invoices, remote tax refunds, convenient payments, and self-service tax refunds. There are now twelve stores allowing an immediate refund after purchasing and a total of 1,020 tax refund stores in the city, making Beijing the leader nationwide in this regard.

Currently, Beijing's departure tax refund stores have expanded to encompass not only time-honored brands such as Rongbaozhai Art Gallery and Ruifuxiang Silk and competitive brands such as Xiaomi Store but also fashionable luxury brands such as Hermes. Tourists can now enjoy the convenience and exceptional international services that these stores offer, while also getting a glimpse of Beijing's unique charm built upon a seamless integration of tradition and modernity. In the first quarter of 2023, Beijing's departure tax refund sales witnessed an 8.9 times year-on-year increase, while the number of tax refund application forms issued grew sixfold over the same period. This tax refund policy has not only driven cultural exports but also significantly boosted overseas tourists' consumption while showcasing Beijing's open and inclusive spirit.
