Longqing Gorge Ice Lantern Festival Opens on January 15

The 38th Longqing Gorge Ice Lantern Festival kicked off on January 15. This year's event promises three times as many ice sculptures as in the past and an array of new attractions, including a Glacier Gorge Paradise and a special drone air show.

The breathtaking natural wonder of Longqing Gorge has been augmented by blue ice, rime and hoarfrost, spectacular ice fissures, and glaze and bubble ice.

This year's festival will showcase a spectacular collection of 200 ice sculptures and more than 100 works out of snow. The gorge will be lit up by 50 sets of colorful lanterns, 2,000 decorative lights on the trees, and countless light exhibits shaped like mountains, the Great Wall, and traditional Chinese pavilions.

The festival will introduce a new attraction called the Glacier Gorge Paradise, where visitors, under the guidance of experts of the scenic area, can participate in exhilarating activities such as ice drifting and rapid jumping. The scenic area also boasts numerous attractions perfect for photography, and the Cultural Square will host a variety of enthralling performances, including shows featuring spectacular intangible cultural heritage.
