The "Beijing Eight Imperial Handicrafts" refers to the eight techniques behind gold lacquerware, filigree, cloisonné, ivory carving, jade carving, carved lacquerware, Beijing embroidery and Beijing carpets. These techniques were formed gradually over time once craftsmen ceased working for the royal family after the fall of the Qing Dynasty.

Tickets are CNY 20 per person and can be reserved through the official WeChat account of Beijing Eight Imperial Handicrafts Museum (ID: gh-9b19d12f103a). The museum is open from 14:00 to 16:00 on weekdays (closed on Mondays) and from 09:00 to 16:00 on weekends and national holidays.

The main building of the Beijing Eight Imperial Handicrafts Museum, Cheng'en Temple, was built during the Ming Dynasty. It was listed as a cultural relics site under protection from the People's Government of Beijing Municipality in 1990 and as a national key cultural relics site under governmental protection in 2006.
