The 21st Beijing International Book Carnival (hereinafter referred to as the "Book Carnival") and the 29th Beijing International Book Fair were launched on June 15 and will last until June 18, with the Banquet Hall at the China National Convention Center as the main venue of both of the events.

The special section for themed publications has collected nearly 10,000 volumes of more than 2,000 types of books. The exhibition of publishing achievements of Beijing in the new era displays various award-winning books and other publications in Beijing from the past ten years, with a total of 345 types.

This year's Beijing International Book Carnival will specially invite famous writers such as Wang Meng and Li Zhongjie to bring 10 cultural lectures to readers. Liu Yida, a famous writer, and cultural scholars including Sasu and Zhang Peng will also be invited to share their insights under specific themes with the participants and book lovers. Also, a sales area for imported original books has been set up for the Book Carnival for the first time, featuring 3,000 best-selling titles from 300 well-known overseas publishers, with famous overseas copyrighted works introduced, such as those of the Harry Potter series.

"Bookstore's Night", as a parallel sub-event of the Book Carnival, will be held from 16:30 to 20:30 every day from June 16 to 18 at Shuxiangshiye, a cultural block on Qianmen Street, and PAGEONE's store at Beijing Fun.

There will be 140 sub-events (including 60 offline ones) in the city, involving 88 brick-and-mortar bookstores. Readers can purchase books, try to make books by themselves on site, and collect chops evidencing that they have visited certain spots.
