Data shows that in the first three days of the Labor Day holiday, China's catering consumption was up by 92 percent compared with the same period in 2019, with Beijing ranking first in the country.

Many famous and time-honored restaurants in Beijing became highly crowded during the holiday, with locals flocking to these famous dining spots to throw feasts for their families and tourists trying delicious local specialties. The restaurants near the Central Axis and scenic spots were particularly popular.

Kaorouji Restaurant (near Shichahai Scenic Area), Old Xi'An Restaurant (by the Drum Tower), Huguosi Snacks (Di'anmen branch), Emei Restaurant (Di'anmen branch) and several other well-known restaurants all received more than 10,000 visitors during the holiday. The "Wu Chi Roast" at Kaorouji Restaurant, listed as an item of the national intangible cultural heritage of China, was so popular that hundreds of customers had to wait in line for a bite.

Data shows that during the Labor Day holiday, night-time orders made by tourists from out of the city doubled month-on-month. The number of barbecue-related orders nearly tripled month-on-month, and the number of take-away orders for meat instantly boiled with copper pots rose by 140 percent.
