On the morning of January 19, the 119-year-old Dongan Department Store reopened.

After the latest renovation, this traditional department store has been transformed into an immersive buyer-oriented establishment, which means that all products are bought from the global market by buyers and that everything sold there is self-operated, with an environment combining product-showcasing areas and exclusive shops to display specialty items.

The product-showcasing areas encompass international trendy brands at the market's forefront, bringing various kinds of major commodities to the Chinese market at a first-hand price and providing consumers with an international shopping experience with a "zero time difference" ambience. Independently operated or exclusive shops boast optimized selections of trendy and luxurious quality brands around the world, with intensified specialty design concepts and styles, enabling consumers to finish one-stop shopping easily.

Meanwhile, the interior decoration of the store has been improved greatly through spatial design and background arrangement, making the store an instafgrammable venue for fashion-related events

Regarding problems faced by traditional stores in Beijing such as aging facilities and inability to adapt to new consumption needs, Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau along with concerned authorities and district governments, has adopted "pilot first" and "customized policies for stores" approaches to facilitate the upgrade and renovation of traditional stores through improvement of the business environment and policy support.

At present, the upgrade and renovation of 20 among 25 pilot enterprises, including the Changan Market, have been completed, with substantial sales growth witnessed in those respective stores.
