On January 5, Beijing's first library themed on the Olympic Games called the "Olympic Library" - Sports Branch of Capital Library of China officially opened to the public. The library has been jointly established by the Capital Library of China and the Capital University of Physical Education and Sports.  

The "Olympic Library" houses more than 2,000 Chinese books themed on sports and almost 1,000 titles of foreign books themed on Olympic Games. It also provides three million e-books, more than 500,000 audio books and other digital resources including over 10,000 kinds of electronic newspapers and magazines and the "Digital Winter Olympics". Excellent books have been highlighted for readers in five categories of politics, sports, classics, science popularization, and children. The "Olympic Library" also contains a specific bookshelf for "Recommendations" and an exhibition of digital resources. 

The "Olympic Library" is one of the 425 member libraries of Beijing Public Library Information Sharing Network. Readers can borrow and return books in any of the 395 member libraries providing general borrow and return services. Moreover, the "Olympic Library" provides the value-added service of "books on call" among Capital Library of China and 14 district libraries. 

The "Olympic Library"  will also hold exhibitions and themed reading activities.
