After eight-month upgrade and renovation, the 24-year-old branch of Cuiwei Department Store in Gongzhufen reopened with a new look. As a pilot project under the "One Policy for One Store" upgrade and renovation program targeted at traditional stores in Beijing, the store's branch in Gongzhufen has been transformed into a trendier store with more diversified forms of business.

This renovation has brought into the branch new patterns of business including cinema and bookstore, and attracted nearly 100 new brands, among which 37 brands are in general goods, and 12 choose to settle here their first store in Beijing or Haidian District, making the shopping environment more internationalized and trendier. About 50 restaurants and internet-famous snack bars including Din Tai Fung and Tokugawa have also been introduced into the food and drink section of the branch.

The stores on the first four floors as well as the first basement of the branch, most of which are in retailing, have all opened.

According to the initial design scheme released by the Commerce Bureau of Haidian District, Gongzhufen commercial area is projected to transform its business type from traditional department stores into integrated experience business, under which a nightlife consumption area will be established on the walking street located on the north of Cuiwei Tower and the neighboring Beijing Urban-Rural Commercial Store, while the street on the south of the above two buildings will be transformed into a high-quality leisure street.
