Sui Zhenjiang, the Vice Mayor of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, emphasized that Copenhagen is one of Beijing's most important sister cities, with this year marking the 10-year anniversary of the sister city agreement between Beijing and Copenhagen. The exhibition reviews the significant achievements in the collaboration between the two cities on sustainable development with analyses of cases, and reflects the sincere desire of the two cities to address challenges of urban governance and promote sustainable development together, which serves as a representation of the close partnership between Beijing and Copenhagen.

The Ambassador of Denmark to China Thomas Moeller, as he delivered the speech, shared that Beijing and Copenhagen have been closely working on sustainable urban development since 2008. Particularly, he referenced the project by the two cities called the "Green Valley" in the Tongzhou District of Beijing, as a model for close cooperation in "sponge city" building, and stressed the two cities' joint efforts to tackle climate change. He added, "Beijing and Copenhagen have proved that when we work together across borders, we can build green, healthy, liveable and carbon neutral cities for future generations. I am confident this exhibition will serve as a strong reminder of exactly that."
