On November 2, the 2023 World Agrifood Innovation Conference (WAFI 2023) commenced at Beijing Jinhai Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center in Pinggu, Beijing. Agricultural scientists, presidents of agricultural universities and colleges, agricultural entrepreneurs, and young scholars from more than 60 countries and regions worldwide gathered at the shores of Jinhai Lake to share the most advanced agricultural technological achievements and collectively discuss the path for global agricultural development.

On the first day of WAFI 2023, four thematic forums (i.e. WAFI University Presidents Forum, WAFI Agrifood Investment and Venture Capital Forum, WAFI Entrepreneurs Forum, and International Forum for Agriculture Science and Technology Exchange and Cooperation) and five parallel forums (i.e. WAFI Youth Forum, Future Food and Nutrition Health and Sustainable Environment Forum, Low-carbon Agriculture and Sustainable Development Forum, Smart Agriculture Forum, and 2023 National Forum of Presidents of Agricultural and Forestry Universities) were held. A main forum on the topic "Challenges and Opportunities of Agrifood System Transformation" also took place on the same day.

On the same day, the Chinese version of the CEO Guide to Food System Transformation was also released, as well as the Center for Agrifood Sector Sustainability and Climate Action (CASCA), jointly founded by the MBA Education Center of the China Agricultural University, World Resources Institute, World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Food and Land Use Coalition, and Syngenta Group, was inaugurated.

WAFI 2023 was concluded on November 4.
