The year 2022 marked the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, providing a rare opportunity for bilateral innovation cooperation and opening new horizons for international cooperation platforms such as the Beijing China-Japan Innovation and Cooperation Demonstration Zone.

By the end of 2022, a total of 1,973 entities had been newly registered in the demonstration zone, including 269 entities participating in key implemented projects and 62 foreign-funded enterprises, with 71 signed projects. Specifically, a lot of international innovative enterprises, such as Japan's ENDO Lighting Corp. and Tokyo Kiraboshi Financial Group, Inc., were attracted to the demonstration zone. In addition, construction of the International Center for Science and Technology Innovation formally started, a comprehensive service center for enterprises was put into full operation, and the Sino-Japanese Innovation Foundation of CNY 2 billion was set up to support the development of enterprises.

The Beijing China-Japan Innovation and Cooperation Demonstration Zone aims to build itself into a world-class, modern industrial park featuring high-standard industrial development. It has taken the lead in formulating and implementing a three-year action plan to develop a new high-level international platform for science and technology commercialization and a new incubator for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The demonstration zone adheres to the principle of "opening-up to the world with a focus on Sino-Japanese cooperation". With the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan as a milestone and a new starting point, it will seize good opportunities such as the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and accelerate the construction of a high ground for international innovation cooperation.

The Beijing China-Japan Innovation and Cooperation Demonstration Zone will focus on innovation services, carry out a series of overseas innovation cooperation activities, and nurture a business environment in line with international standards.
