The Organizing Committee of the World Geothermal Congress 2023 (WGC 2023) announced on April 11 that the 7th World Geothermal Congress is scheduled to take place in Beijing from September 4 to 6, 2023.

Under the theme "Clean Geothermal, Green Earth", WGC 2023 will bring together domestic and foreign guests from all walks of society to visit Beijing to delve into topics related to the geothermal industry, such as policy support, advanced technologies, and environmental protection, aiming to jointly contribute to the development of the global geothermal industry. The event is now open for registration and participants can sign up through the official website of the event (www.wgc2023.com).

In 2019, China was granted the opportunity to host the World Geothermal Congress, marking the first time this country had been entrusted with such an important international event. As the main organizer of WGC 2023, Sinopec Group is committed to presenting a congress with Chinese characteristics and making it a world-class event while adhering strictly to the principles of green, safety and cleanness. Sinopec aims to support China's goal of realizing "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" with the use of geothermal energy and to actively facilitate the high-quality development of the global geothermal industry with China's contributions.

The World Geothermal Congress is widely considered to be the premier international gathering in the geothermal industry, offering a platform to exchange ideas on scientific and technological advancements and innovative achievements in the exploitation and utilization of geothermal energy around the world. In 1995, the first WGC was held in Florence, Italy. Since then, five more congresses have been held, taking place in diverse locations including Morioka, Antalya, Bali, Auckland and Reykjavik.
