The Beijing Museum of Traditional Opera was officially completed and opened to the public on September 6, 1997. It is the 100th museum that was built in Beijing, undertaking the task of popularizing the knowledge of opera and displaying fine works of opera. The big theater stage in the museum was also a venue for opera performances, and Peking Opera masters such as Tan Xinpei, Yu Shuyan, and Mei Lanfang have performed here.
