The Main Media Centre (MMC) for Beijing Olympic Winter Games was completed on Tuesday and is ready for use at the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, announced the Beijing Major Projects Construction Headquarters on Tuesday.

The MMC includes the Main Press Centre (MPC) and International Broadcasting Centre (IBC), also the game time headquarters of global registration print media and all rights broadcasters. There will be about 3,000 registered journalists and 12,000 broadcasters in Beijing for the Games.

The main building of the second phase project of the China National Convention Centre, where the MMC is located, is in the shape of a huge mythical bird, highlighting the design concept of a harmonious coexistence between architecture and nature.

The building highlights the concept of a green Olympics; making full use of renewable energy, it achieves good energy efficiency and emission reduction.

After the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the construction of the second phase project of the convention centre will continue and is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

After completion, the main building of the project and its supporting hotels, office buildings and commercial buildings will form an exhibition complex with a total scale of more than 1.3 million square meters with its adjacent China National Convention Centre Phase I, meeting the needs of high-end government activities, large-scale international exchanges and business exhibition services.
