Construction work for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics will be completed this October with the renovation of China's National Stadium, Beijing Major Projects construction headquarters confirmed on Saturday.

The National Stadium, also dubbed the "Bird's Nest", will become the only venue in history to host opening and closing ceremonies for both Olympic Summer and Winter Games, having previously done so in 2008 when Beijing hosted the Summer Games.

As of July 17, 53 of 57 Olympic Winter projects in both Beijing and Yanqing competition zones have been completed. The remaining four projects, including the national stadium's construction and renovation, will be completed this year.

Earlier this year, the Beijing Olympic Winter Village and Main Media Center (MMC) were delivered to the Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee (BOCOG), as were the National Sliding Center, National Alpine Skiing Center and Yanqing Olympic Winter Village.
